Food Ideas for a Birthday Party
If you want something that people can munch on during the party, try a snack mix. There are so many different versions of snack mixes available today. Some even have different types of candies included. Snack mixes made with dried fruits are becoming popular also.
Throwing your own snack mix together can be a quick and easy. It’s also a great food to make an over abundance of. When people see snack mix they feel it’s a food they can munch on all afternoon long. Try a variety. One snack mix can be made with salty items such as pretzels and peanuts. Another may include sweet items such as marshmallows and dried fruits.
Finger sandwiches make a great party food too. Kids really like peanut butter and jelly. Even turkey or ham and cheese are a hit when it comes to kids. If adults will also be present have a few sandwiches made with chicken or tuna salad. Use cookie cutters to cut your sandwiches into different shapes. This works well if you are having a theme party. Cookie cutters come in such a wide variety that you should have no problem finding the right ones to go along with your birthday party’s theme. Top the sandwiches off with a toothpick and you have the makings of a great party food.
Another idea is to make fruit or vegetable kabobs. Everybody likes fruits and vegetables. Use skewers and attach the foods just like you would any other type of kabob. Add cheese or marshmallows to your fruit kabob for a little different taste. Place vegetable dip in small plastic cups. This will add some diversity to your vegetable kabobs. If you have young children at the party make theirs with toothpicks instead of skews so they don’t feel so overwhelmed. Be sure to cut the ends of the toothpicks or purchase round edged toothpicks, so no one gets poked.
Don’t forget the cake. That is a must at a birthday party. Cupcakes instead of cake can be a great addition to birthday party foods. This gives you a chance to make different flavors to please everyone. Just be sure to save one back with a candle for the guest of honor.
Birthday party foods don’t have to be elaborate to be a hit. With a little imagination you can make a feast for all to behold. By dressing up a few simple food items and how they are arranged you can have a food table that is the talk of the party and pretty empty when the party is over.
