Brown Bag Lunch Drink Ideas

Nothing finishes off a meal like a refreshing drink, and lunch is no exception to that rule. Today there are many different types of drinks available to complement what you pack in your lunch.

Brown Bag Lunch Drink Ideas

A lot of times kids would buy a small container of milk to go along with their brown bag lunch. Milk is good and good for you but it doesn't always hit the spot. Milk is definitely a wholesome drink and most schools offer two percent milk as an alternative to whole milk. You can also get two percent chocolate milk. Milk is nutritious in that it provides the body with protein, calcium and Vitamin D.

Water is actually one of the best choices for a refreshing drink. Our bodies are made up of ninety percent water and it is important to drink water especially when we are active. The extra water is really good for children because they are pretty active during the day.

It is recommended that we drink five to seven glasses of water a day. This helps to flush out the impurities in our system and keeps our skin glowing. Most kids could care less about the state of their skin but this is important to many adults. For brown bag lunches bottled water works the best. If your child will not drink a full sixteen ounce bottle, there are smaller eight and twelve ounce water bottles that fit nicely in a brown paper bag or an insulated lunch bag.

There are actually a lot of people that don't like the taste of water. Depending on your location your water can come from a well or the city supply. If you don't like plain water you can add a packet of flavoring and it will still be healthy. Crystal Light and Kool-Aid along with other companies make drink mix sticks with flavors that are sure to tease and tempt the tongue. You can try a different flavor in those lunches everyday of the week.

If you are worried about calories these drink sticks contain five or less calories per serving. The drink sticks are sweetened with artificial sweetener so there will be no extra sugar going into their systems. It's exciting for the kids to add the mix and watch the water change colors.

Fruit juices are fine, but not everyday. Eight ounces of juice a day is what many nutritionists believe should be the limit. Those eight ounces of juice should be 100 percent real juice nothing artificial. Juices contain unnecessary sugar. For the benefit of apple or orange juice, it is better to eat the actual fruit instead of drinking the juice.

Drinks help to wash down all of the food that we eat at lunch. Drink's do an important job for us so why not make them taste great.
