Creating Easter Meal

Have you decided to have guests over for Easter this year? Are you fighting with the decision of whether to have a brunch, lunch or dinner? Well it really doesn't matter which time of day you choose to host that gathering just bring out the best dishes for all to enjoy. Make sure to keep it simple and have fun. Below are some ideas for having a gathering for each time of day.

Creating the Easter Meal

Hosting A Brunch

If you're planning to have guests over between 10 am and noon then a brunch is what is should aim for. To host a brunch you'll have to get started a little earlier. This will allow time to prepare the dishes beforehand and warm them up just prior to your guest's arrival. Buffet style is a good way to go when hosting a brunch. This works well for the host and the guest's.

For a brunch serve items such as quiche, omelets, fruit, waffles or pancakes. Ham or egg salad sandwiches, breakfast breads and cakes will also fit the bill. An assortment of appetizers and finger foods may be added. For the beverages serve juice, coffee, tea, milk, hot chocolate or soda. This will allow you to keep it simple and yet satisfying.

Hosting A Lunch

If the plans are to have people over after church or if you just want to sleep in then host a lunch. Lunch usually falls from around noon to 3 p.m. Lunch can also be served as a buffet style. Lunch is also good for those who choose to have the sit down affair. Whichever you choose your lunch menu will offer a little more than a brunch menu with additional hot dishes. Finger foods can still be served but you'll want to add more meat and vegetable dishes when choosing to host a lunch.

Some items that can be served for lunch are ham, potato salad, spinach salad, deviled eggs, green beans, corn, carrots, macaroni and cheese, and biscuits. For the beverages you can have an Easter themed punch, tea, or just soft drinks and your meal will be complete.

Hosting A Dinner

If the plan is to host a meal anytime after 5 p.m then you will want to plan a more extensive menu. A dinner menu can still be simple yet elegant. Dishes that can be made in advance will make the day a lot easier. Anything that can be done prior to the actual day of the dinner will help keep you stress-free.

For the main course think about leg of lamb, rib roast, and ham or even salmon. The side dishes could include new potatoes, roasted root vegetables, green beans, rice pilaf, pasta, sugar peas, artichokes and asparagus. Be sure to include other items such as salads, various appetizers, fruits, cakes and breads. Finish it off by complementing your meal with a nice beverage to make the dinner will be elegant and complete.
