A high metabolism is important when it comes to burning calories. Eating the foods to help build that metabolism is very beneficial in losing those unwanted pounds. A low metabolism will leave you sluggish all day long.

One of the first things you need to remember when boosting metabolism is that it is important to eat with thirty minutes after waking up. By doing this you are giving your metabolism the start it needs to burn away those unwanted calories all day long. What's the best breakfast to achieve this? 3 oz of lean protein, a cup of complex carbohydrates and an 8 oz. glass of water is the ticket for building that calorie burning metabolism.

Eating small meals every 2 to 3 hours will continue to increase that metabolism all day long. Never go more than 4 hours without eating something. Feeding the body when you first feel hungry is important. Waiting until you hit starvation mode or skipping that meal altogether can be a detriment to any diet.

These small meals need to contain protein. Healthy snacks in single servings will not only keep you from feeling starved but also give that metabolism the boost it needs to burn those calories. Try munching on some granola with nuts to give your body that extra push.

Of course you still have 2 main meals in your day. These don't have to be small snacks. You can add a variety of foods to lunch and dinner. Consuming 3 oz. of protein, a serving of complex carbohydrates and all the fresh fruits and vegetables you desire will keep your body on an even keel. Brown rice is a satisfying way to add carbohydrates to your diet. Mix it with a few veggies and you can achieve a different taste at every meal.

Boosting your metabolism is a great way to burn off those unwanted calories. Eating the foods to help that metabolism work efficiently is important to any diet. With this in mind and knowing that these foods are healthy one can only begin to feel like they are accomplishing what's necessary to lose the weight.
