Fellowshipping with Each Other On Thanksgiving
Fellowship with others is the purpose of Thanksgiving. This can be done at one place or throughout the day at several places. Some people actually take pride in seeing how many different houses they can hit for a Thanksgiving Day feast.
Most people observe one meal at a set time, while this can be different for others. By setting up a buffet style meal this will allow everyone to spend time together, reflect, and give thanks for the food that is before them. The prepared food is set out at a predetermined time for all to enjoy. This type of meal will allow family and friends to come and eat at their leisure for an hour or two.
By choosing the buffet style dinner, family can share their memories and good food. Your family and friends will not feel obligated to stay around should they need to leave and visit other family and friends. The buffet style dinner also makes it easier for the guys to watch the game on the television while eating. The buffet style Thanksgiving meal is not one where everyone sits at a fancy table. Everyone may be doing different things, but family and friends are present in the same household. After all Thanksgiving is all about togetherness and thankfulness.
Why not volunteer your time at a soup kitchen on Thanksgiving? Many of these people who attend soup kitchens on Thanksgiving don't have a family to spend it with. Volunteers are always needed at soup kitchens on Thanksgiving Day. As a volunteer you can sit and talk with those that are less fortunate while passing on the peace of God at the same time. This will definitely make someone's day that might not have otherwise had a reason to give thanks this holiday.
Will you go for the traditional Thanksgiving meal this year or try something a little different? No matter which meal idea you decide on, don't forget to count your blessings and be thankful for everything that you have.
