Fourth of July Party, Festive but Inexpensive
You can usually find paper table clothes in the red, white and blue theme at a reasonable price. Maybe start with a blue table cloth, adding white napkins and red plates to make a festive table setting. You could also do blue plastic wear on the white napkins and cups in red to add a nice touch. Using a blue vase add red and white carnations and flags to make a patriotic centerpiece. After your meal is served, you could give the flags to your guest.
Here are some ideas to make your menu more festive. If having white corn on the cob, serve in a red or blue dish. Having salsa? Use blue tortilla chips and sour cream. On a blue plate serve sliced tomatoes with slices of mozzarella. Serve some blue cheese dip with red pepper slices.
For the kids serve blue jell-o with raspberries and topped with cool whip. Make some star shaped sugar cookies, use white frosting to ice and top with red and blue sprinkles. In a large clear bowl, combine blueberries and strawberries together, adding a side dish of whipped cream.
Don’t want to forget about the drinks for the gathering. Sweet tea is all American and it doesn’t have to be red, white and blue. This recipe for a Red, White and Blue Freezee will work. In a blender mix together half cup frozen blueberries, one cup whipping cream, one teaspoon lemon juice and sugar to taste. Add a few strawberries to the top of drink.
Some punch for the Fourth is very refreshing. In a blender, mix two cups cranberry juice, six cups of orange juice and a twenty ounce package of frozen strawberries in syrup. Right before serving, add three cups ginger ale. This makes eighteen servings.
Want to add some sparkle to your party? Here are a few inexpensive ideas. Add some sparklers to a dish when serving it. Have some patriotic music playing in the background of your get together. Dress yourself in red, white and blue. Wear the star sunglasses and the patriotic headbands and have some on hand for your quest, getting everyone in on the festivity. If you have an American Flag, be sure to hang it. Decorate a window or a door with Uncle Sam. Using your imagination, you can make anything happen.
