Create Healthier Easter Treats
Healthy Edibles That Are Yummy
Believe it or not you can create an Easter basket that will include some yummy edibles without going overboard with sugar filled processed chocolates. As an alternative look for healthy snack foods that contain less sugar and provide more nutrients. There are actually healthy snacks that can still be fun for your child.
For example, chocolate covered raisins or peanuts, small boxes of raisins, dried fruit, trail mix, granola bars, juice boxes, fresh fruit, string cheese, homemade cookies and even sugar-free gum. Local health food stores also carry tasty, healthy candies and bars that your children will love.
Activity Treats
Anything like small toys and items that promote activity will also be a great addition to any Easter basket. These treats will promote and encourage children to get out and have fun while getting exercise all at the same time. These treats can include ring toss games, jump ropes, basketballs, soccer balls, and even hula hoops.
Fun Educational Treats
Toys that promote education and fun at the same time are another wonderful option for a healthier Easter basket. Be sure to choose items that are age appropriate and suit your child's ability. These treats can include hand held learning games, activity books, story books or novels, alphabet and number magnets, flashcards, or children's card games such as go fish, or memory.
Creative Or Crafty Treats
If your child is creative and crafty then items that will express their creativity will be a nice addition to their baskets. Make sure to choose items that best suit your child's age and interests. A few examples include scrap booking supplies, beading kits, crayons or markers, coloring books, water paints, stickers and sticker books, play dough or modeling clay or even gel pens.
Spring Treats
Easter falls right into spring. There are actually many wonderful items you can include in your Easter baskets that celebrate spring time. This will encourage your child to go outside and exercise while enjoying the season. A few spring treats include sidewalk chalk, bubbles, children gardening kits and kites.
For Girls, Toiletries And Accessories
These make great Easter basket fillers especially for young girls. A lot of this depends on the age of your child. They may enjoy bubble bath, lip gloss, bath crayons, or novelty tooth brushes. For the older girls you can include earrings, necklaces, watches, fancy shoelaces, tattoos and many other like accessories.
Baby Treats
This time with your baby is so precious. This still can include a healthy basket which is important. Some healthy alternatives for a baby's Easter basket may include stuffed animals, a rattle, baby cookies, a special bib or even a teething ring. The baby food in a jar is also a good healthy alternative.
A Healthy Alternative To Chocolate
Of course, Easter is all about the chocolate Easter bunny, right? You may not want to cut out the chocolate all together. Instead of giving one large chocolate Easter bunny, you can choose the mini chocolate eggs and hide them around the house. This will give your children exercise as they search for the eggs. They probably won't even be aware that they have ended up with less chocolate then they would have with a whole bunny.
Try not to take out the chocolate all together. You can still add chocolate but include it in moderation to your baskets. You can still include healthy Easter treats for your loved ones this Easter season as well.
