Make Healthy Eating Fun with These 4 Tips

Let’s face it, if you want to be fit, you must make healthy eating a part of your life. Eating healthy doesn’t necessarily mean that you must resign yourself to the fact that you can’t eat the foods you enjoy. You will need to make compromises yes, but you have to make the choice. Below are four tips to help you find enjoyment in your new healthy eating lifestyle.

1. Set yourself up for success
If you’re failing miserably at eating healthy, chances are it’s because you aren’t setting yourself up for success. If you really desire to eat healthy, ditch the junk food and replace it with healthier alternatives. Put your best foot forward and set yourself up to succeed at your new healthy eating goal.

2. Choose variety
You don’t have to eat those boring and more times than not gross diet foods. Instead, add some diversity to your meals. Instead of eating your normal bag of chips or dozen cookies in the afternoon, grab some fresh fruit instead. Bananas, apples, grapes and kiwi all taste good and you can grab any of them just as fast, if not quicker than that bag of chips or cookies. They are also great on the go foods.

3. Make it handy
When you bring your fruits and vegetables home from the grocery store, immediately wash them and divide them up in plastic containers or plastic zipper bags. Then place them in the refrigerator. This will make them easily accessible later on when you want something quick for a snack. If you make your healthy foods easy to grab, you will be less tempted to reach for that pre-packaged and oh so unhealthy snack cake instead.

4. Be accountable
Enlist the help of a family member or close friend to help you on your journey to a healthier you. Ask them to keep you accountable for what you are eating. Even better, find a friend who is already trying to eat healthier too and you be accountable for them as well. Exchange recipes and meal ideas with one another, as well as going out together without feeling like the only one at the table is who is worried about eating healthy.
