Leftover Meals in a Crock Pot

So you have this new crock pot that you just got for Christmas and as you are admiring the grooviness of it, you still don't really know what it is, let alone what to cook in it or how to cook it. It's okay, before you know it that crock pot sitting in your kitchen will become your new best friend.

Use Your Crock Pot for Leftovers

It is quite simple to cook in a crock pot. You know that old saying 'a throw together meal'? Well cooking with a crock pot is a throw together meal, so to speak. The only difference is that it is scrumptious when it is cooked in the crock pot.

Take for instance that roast you cooked last night. You remember how wonderful that was? Although it was delicious, you still have plenty of leftovers and another night of roast just isn't appealing to the family. Yes, you can chose to make a roast beef sandwich with the leftovers, but for an even better tasting and more filling meal, why not use your crock pot and make shredded barbecue?

Simply, take the leftover roast out of the refrigerator and place it in the crock pot. Cover with your favorite barbecue sauce and let simmer for a couple of hours. Once you're ready to eat, boil your favorite vegetable, shred the roast, place on a bun and enjoy beef barbecue sandwiches with veggies on the side.

Another idea for using that crock pot is to keep foods, such as soup you made on the stove top warm until it's ready to eat. Let's say you made a scrumptious homemade chicken noodle soup, but you want to take it to a party without it getting cold. This is where your crock pot comes in. Don't fret, it may need some extra simmering but that can be done at the party, in the crock pot. Once the soup has been put together, go ahead and convert it to the crock pot. When it's time to leave for the party, simply bring the crock pot with you and plug it in to keep it warm while you're there.

Any kind of leftover soup can also be placed in the crock pot to be warmed up. Before heading to work in the morning, pull out your soup and pour it in the crock pot. Turn the crock pot on to warm. By the time that you get home, it should be warmed up for dinner. You can even freeze soup and put it in the crock pot on low for a few hours.

These are just a few of many leftover meals you can create using your crock pot. The more you use your crock pot the more ideas you'll have. Don't be afraid to experiment either, because you never know when that leftover may turn out better than the original meal with the help of a slow cooker.
