Relieving Back Pain with Dietary Changes
As we age, the body becomes weaker. It is a natural part of the aging process if nothing is done to affect it. The foods we eat contain vitamins and nutrients that keep our bodies going for the long haul.
One way to affect the aging process is through the use of antioxidants. Antioxidants neutralize the effects of free radicals in the body. Foods contain natural antioxidants. These antioxidants can make a difference when it comes to our bones and muscles. That is how dietary changes can make a difference when it comes to relieving back pain.
You may have heard about free radicals. They are the substances that bombard the organs causing diseases like cancer, cataracts, heart disease and other ailments. On the outside, they can cause wrinkling, lead to age spots and other things we would rather the world not see.
Antioxidants are found in a variety of food types termed “super foods.” One of the best foods to find antioxidants is broccoli. Yes, we said broccoli. Those little trees are full of polyphenols. They provide strength for your bones and your heart. It also has fiber which lowers cholesterol levels.
Another super food is blueberries. All berries in fact have some sort of antioxidant properties. Fill your body with delicious smoothies. Add fruit to oatmeal and cereal in the morning.
Not only can a dietary change give you the antioxidants you need but it can help to low weight. Often times back pains come from the extra weight we carry around. Eating good foods can lower your weight which also takes pressure off of your back.
Back pain can be debilitating and often times there isn't anything that can be done other than surgery to relieve the pain. Yet surgery is usually the last option. Talk with your doctor about your diet and if it is affecting your back. If you are suffering with mild back pain try changing your diet to see if a healthier diet helps.
