Should Children Drink Raw Milk

Should children drink raw milk? That is a question that is being highly debated. Many believe that it is much healthier for children. Others feel it’s too big of a risk. The debate is centered on the pasteurization process, or lack thereof, of milk.

Should Children Drink Raw Milk?

The pasteurization process removes certain bacteria both good and bad from milk. It has also been shown to remove some of the nutrients that can be found in raw milk. Many believe that raw milk is bad for children because children can develop tuberculosis due to the bacteria. There is a study that shows one child out of seventy who consumed raw milk developed tuberculosis. It also shows that fourteen children who drank pasteurized milk developed the same disease.

Raw milk should always come from a reputable supplier who can be trusted to sell you clean raw milk. Studies have proven that drinking raw milk that is fresh and comes from a healthy cow is good for children. It contains high levels of calcium, iodine and proteins that can promote good health in our children.

Research also shows that children who are drinking raw milk build up a high resistance against diseases such as diphtheria, pneumonia and tuberculosis. Scientists have also found that children who drink raw milk have a growth rate that is far superior to those children who don’t.

There are many countries that place raw milk at the top of their healthy diet list. It is known that many adults and children who drink raw milk have never become ill due to that fact. It is also known that many people who drink pasteurized milk have become ill from it. Also many who are against raw milk look at the cost factor for farmers? It would require expensive equipment and these people believe it would be too expensive for farmers. The flip side of that is the believers in raw milk who say that the equipment used to pasteurize milk is also expensive and they ask what was available before pasteurization.

Should children drink raw milk? That decision is yours as a parent. The facts are there and many believe the debate is no more than a political agenda. Research the nutritional value of raw milk versus pasteurized milk. This will enable you to make a sound decision for the better of your child and their health.
