Themes Easter Egg Hunt

Easter egg hunts can range in a wide variety of themes. Parents try every year to add interesting twists to the kids Easter egg hunt. These annual Easter egg hunts generally create a lot of fond memories that last a lifetime. Below are four great versions to use for your Easter egg hunt this year.

Themes For An Easter Egg Hunt

The Bible Verse Hunt

The Easter Bible verse hunt works best with older children and teens. The reason being is that older children will be able to read and decipher the clues better than younger children. You can pair the older teens up with the younger children so that all can participate. After the teams have been determined envelopes with a Bible verse in them are handed out to each team. Each verse has a clue in it which leads to the location of various treats and so on and so forth. The last clue will lead to the biggest treat.

This may seem like a lot of work, but really it isn't. For example, a verse about a rock will lead the children to a rock garden. A verse about sleeping would lead the children to a bedroom in your home. For the younger children you could highlight the portions of the verse that are most important in finding the correct location.

A Treasure Trail

This theme is perfect for small children and toddlers. If your child is say around 18 months old you could meet him/her at their crib with an Easter basket. Leave a trail of mini Easter eggs that will lead to a bigger treat.

Make sure that when you lay out your treasure trail that you keep your child's attention span in mind. It doesn't take long for younger children to get bored if the trail is too long. Maybe you could set up a series of smaller prizes along the path where they can stop and enjoy before moving on.

A Scavenger Hunt

A scavenger hunt is fun for all ages. For the older children you can make up a written list of items for them to find. For the younger children, a sheet with pictures of different treats they need to find usually works well. Have the children look for specific colors say like, 1 red egg or 3 blue eggs, etc.

You can also add other items to the list besides chocolate eggs. Some examples are a chocolate Easter bunny, a jump rope, a chocolate bar, a crème egg or other small toys. Hide the items randomly throughout the specified area and make sure the children understand that they are not to remove the items that are not on their own list.

The Easter Challenge Game

This game is a fun party game for older children and adults. Hide small plastic eggs instead of hiding candy eggs. Inside the plastic eggs are instructions for a task that needs to be completed. For example, it will say sing a song, recite a verse from memory, jump up and down on one foot for 10 seconds or draw a picture, etc. After the chosen task has been completed, the child will receive a treat for their basket.

If you are not quite sure what theme to use in your Easter egg hunt this year maybe these four themes will be helpful. You can mix and match these themes or add to them, this will make your Easter egg hunt wonderful.
