Make Those Leftovers Count
Leftovers always seem to be pushed to the back of the refrigerator never to be heard from again until itís time to clean the refrigerator out. Using leftovers can not only save you money, but it can also be a big time saver. Hereís a few ways to make those leftovers count.
If tonight you had a pork loin with rice and frozen mixed vegetables, why not dice some of that pork loin up? Go ahead and put it in the refrigerator for use the next day. You can make sandwiches with it for lunch. Freeze whatever you may still have left over. This will give you another meal next week or the week after.
Now back to the leftover meal at hand. Maybe not tomorrow night, because eating basically the same thing can turn you and your family away from leftovers, but a couple of nights later hereís what you can do with that diced pork loin, rice and veggies. Use a little oil and fry the rice and vegetables together. Add in the diced pork and a little soy sauce and you have a stir fry meal to feed your family. Add a salad and your good to go.
Second meals can be made with beef, chicken, pork or just about any type of meat you may have. Itís just a matter of using a little imagination and a few extra minutes when you clean up from the eveningís meal. Use left over chicken breasts to make chicken strips. Add a potato like French fries and you have a meal thatís quick and easy to make. Try taking leftover hamburgers and chopping them up like browned ground beef. Add some taco seasoning and have tacos or add some barbecue sauce and onion and have Sloppy Joes. Yep itís just that easy.
Leftovers donít have to take watch over the back of the refrigerator to never be seen again until itís time to clean that refrigerator out. They can make some fantastic meals and save you a tremendous amount of time and effort in the kitchen. Not to mention the amount of money you can save. Unless they are standing in the kitchen your family will never know itís leftover from a couple of day ago. With a little imagination you can serve your family meals fit for a king from leftovers.
