Valentine's Day Meals Fit For a Prince or Princess
All kids love pizza. Help them create a pizza party for their Valentine’s Day dinner. Start with refrigerated pizza dough that can be found in almost any grocery store. Let the kids roll it out on a flat surface that has been dusted with flour. Also be sure to show them how to flour the rolling pin so the dough doesn’t stick there too.
Once they have the dough rolled out help them cut heart shaped pizzas with a large cookie cutter. Let them pick out their favorite toppings. Help them with the chopping of things like onions and peppers. Place all the toppings in a different bowl. When it’s time to make the pizza, each person can create his or her very own personal heart pizza with toppings of their choice.
If your children like meatloaf or hamburgers, you can shape those into the perfect heart. For the meatloaf us a heart shape baking pan. With the hamburgers use your hands to shape the hearts. Let the kids write a cute Valentine saying in ketchup on the meatloaf before it’s baked. Better yet if you do hamburgers you write something to each child on their own separate burger.
Even a casserole can become a Valentine’s Day delight. Try making a casserole that contains chicken. Cut the chicken breasts in the shape of a heart. If your casserole calls for slightly melted cheese on top use a cookie cutter to cut out the cheese in heart designs to adorn the top of your casserole for those you adore.
Don’t forget the drinks for your valentine dinner either. One cute way to liven up any drink is by placing it in a red or pink cup - maybe even some with Valentine’s Day decorations on them. Another way is find ice cube trays in the shape of a heart. Freeze water, Kool-Aid or even juice in the trays. Add them to any drink to give it a life of it’s own. Always remember red Kool-Aid is every child’s favorite.
A Valentine’s Day dinner made especially for your prince or princess is a great way to show your children how much they mean to you. It is also a way to spend time together in the kitchen talking about the good things you bring to each other’s lives and how glad you are to have each other. Making children feel special everyday is important but going the extra mile on Valentine’s Day to show them is something they will treasure forever.
