Valentine's Dinner Healthy
Giving our sweeties, whether it is a spouse, child or other loved one, sweets on Valentine's Day is a must. It's just a part of the holiday. The entire day doesn't have to be based on sweets. Make a healthy dinner that will ensure your loved ones are on the right track.

Valentine's Dinner Made Healthy
Sneaking healthy foods in on Valentine's Day isn't as hard as one might think. With a little imagination loved ones can be sure to have not only some sweets but healthy foods too. It doesn't matter if it's a family affair, a romantic dinner or a dinner party healthy foods can be incorporated into the meal.
Appetizers are a great place to start. Whether it be snacks for the kids and hubby before dinner or appetizers for the whole crowd. Instead of fixing those cookies or wings why not fill them with some fresh fruits or vegetables. Use heart shaped cookie cutters to cut out these wonders. Add some strawberry yogurt or a light ranch dressing for a dip. Fill their tummies with these healthy foods and they won't be starving when it's dinner time.
Next on the agenda is nice soup. Soups are a great way to incorporate vegetables into a meal. Broccoli, potato and even vegetable soup can be quite tasty and will set the stage for a great healthy meal.
A toss salad can also be a great way to add a few of those unwanted veggies to the menu. Make your own croutons out of white bread instead of adding those store bought brands. Use light dressings or make a dressing of your own from olive oil and vinegar.
When it comes to the main course it can be difficult to add things that are healthy. Start by using lean cuts of meat. Seafood and fish are also healthy ideas. Chicken is always a hit and it can be baked for an even healthier meal.
Remember to watch the fat content in those side dishes. If you use butter think about changing to margarine. Use low fat ingredients such as half and half instead of a heavy whipping cream. Watch the amount of salt you use or opt for a salt substitute instead.
Valentine's Day doesn't have to be all about the sweets. It's a day to show our loved ones just how special they are to us. Give them a healthy meal. The sweets will always be there but with a healthy meal those little extras will be much more of a treat.
