Vegetarian and Vegan Explained

People have practiced being vegetarians for centuries. There are many reasons for this type of practice. Being a vegetarian encompasses many types of diets and beliefs. Vegans are set apart and eat a specific diet that contains absolutely no animal or dairy products. These types of diets can be healthy and will give you all the nutrients you need if the correct foods are eaten.

As said before Vegans do not eat any types of dairy or animal products, including eggs. Vegans do not believe in wearing any clothes made from animal products or using any type of products that include animal products in their ingredients. Also many vegans will not eat honey and some will not eat products that contain yeast such as bread.

These practices are just a part of a Vegan lifestyle. To be a true Vegan you do not consume or use anything that contains any animal products of any kind. There are some Vegans who only practice the Vegan lifestyle in their diet. These types of Vegans are called dietary Vegans.

There are many different types of Vegetarians as well. They all basically believe the same ways but their diets and habits vary slightly.

The Pesectarians diet includes eating fish. The Fruitarians eat a vegan diet but they will not eat any foods that kill the plant when it is harvested. Lacto vegetarians include milk in their diets. Ovo-Lacto vegetarians consume milk and egg products in their diets.

People become Vegetarians for many different reasons. These include religion, ethnic reasons and because they believe it is a healthier lifestyle. No matter the reason for choosing to become a Vegetarian, you should be sure to research all types and choose the one that is right for you and your purpose. Remember to also research the foods included in your diet to be sure you are receiving the necessary nutrients to maintain a healthy life.
