Basic Bean Chili - Crock Pot

Ingredients

* 1 package (16 oz) dried black beans, rinsed & drained
* 4 cups boiling water
* 1 large onion, chopped
* 1 green bell pepper, chopped
* 1 red bell pepper, chopped
* 1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
* 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cumin
* 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
* 3 garlic cloves, minced
* 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke hickory seasoning
* 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
* 6 large plum tomatoes, chopped

Directions

1. Put everything except tomato paste and tomatoes in crock pot. Mix well.
2. Cover and cook on low 7-9 hours, until beans are tender but not mushy. Add the tomato paste and tomatoes and serve.

Story

I also call this recipe my "Newlywed Chili" because it's very basic and a good jumping off point for creating your family favorite for years to come!
