Cabbage & Onion Soup

Ingredients

*1 fair-sized cabbage
*1 large Spanish onion
*1-1/2 oz. of butter
*pepper and salt
*1/2 tsp. nutmeg
*1-1/2 pints of milk
*2 TBSP wheatmeal

Directions

1. Wash and shred cabbage.
2. Chop onion.
3. In a saucepan with a quart of water, combine onion and shredded cabbage.
4. Add butter, salt, pepper, nutmeg.
5. Cook over medium-low heat until vegetables are tender (approximately 1 hour)
6. Add milk and wheatmeal and allow to simmer for 10-15 minutes.
7. Serve

Story

This soup definitely qualifies as a warm-you-up and good-for-what-ails-ya soup! Have some big crusty bread for soppin' up the bottom of your bowl.
