1. Wash and shred cabbage.
2. Chop onion.
3. In a saucepan with a quart of water, combine onion and shredded cabbage.
4. Add butter, salt, pepper, nutmeg.
5. Cook over medium-low heat until vegetables are tender (approximately 1 hour)
6. Add milk and wheatmeal and allow to simmer for 10-15 minutes.
7. Serve
