Creamy Fish & Clam Chowder - Crock Pot


* 2 packages (16 oz each) frozen cod fillets, cut into quarters
* 2 cans (6 1/ oz each) chopped clams (do not drain)
*1 cup frozen chopped onion
* 8 oz bottle clam juice
* 12 oz can evaporated milk
* 1 envelope Newburgh sauce mix
* 1 envelope bearnaise sauce mix
* 3 cups water
* 2 cans (16 oz each) sliced potatoes, drained
* 1 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1 teaspoon salt


1. Place all ingredients in crock pot and mix well.
2. Cook, covered, on low for 8 hours.


If your husband is like mine, he likes a little more volume to his soups and chowders, so I always end up adding more stuff. This chowder is a great example. Clam Chowder doesn't make him feel like he's eating a meal, so I've started adding big hunks of fish, too. It works out really well. The flavor is great, the extra fish adds the volume he likes, and the creamy texture makes me happy. Kids that like seafood will also enjoy this chowder because it's not too fussy or fancy. Just nice and filling.
