Fabulous Sourdough Baked Brie |
Ingredients
|
* One large round sourdough bread loaf (from grocery bakery or homemade)
* One round of brie cheese (large)
* 1/4 cup butter, melted
* 2 Tablespoons dried minced garlic
* 1 teaspoon dried minced onion
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
|
Directions
|
1. In a small bowl, mix together the dried spices
2. Add the dried spices to the melted butter and set aside
3. Slice off the top of the sourdough round and save as your "lid"
4. Scoop out the inside of the sourdough round, just enough so that the brie round will fit in whole (or you can also cut the brie into chunks to fit if necessary). Save the extra bread and cut into chunks to serve with the brie after baking.
5. Brush the insides of the sourdough bowl with the butter/spice mixture.
6. Insert the brie round and top with the sourdough lid.
7. Wrap well in aluminum foil
8. Bake in preheated 350 oven for 30-45 minutes until brie is well melted.
9. Serve with extra cut bread and crackers.

We have a wonderful summer festival location here in the suburbs of Chicago called "Ravinia Festival" where you can go, bring a picnic on the lawn and then listen to world class performers and orchestras. We bring this with every time we go as our appetizer. Easy to make ahead of time and bring along wrapped in towels to keep warm. Wonderful with a nice merlot!
