Maple Syrup Pecan Squares

*3 C maple syrup
*1 C milk
*1/2 C pecans, chopped

1. Position a saucepan over medium heat.
2. Pour in the maple syrup.
3. Stir in the milk until combined.
4. Bring the mixture to a brisk boil.
5. Boil until a candy thermometer reaches 235 degrees.
6. Remove the pan quickly from the heat.
7. Allow the mixture to cool 3 minutes.
8. On low speed beat the mixture until creamy.
9. Fold the pecans in with a rubber spatula.
10. Place the mixture into a square pan.
11. Refrigerate until firm.

It's incredible what you can make with just three ingredients. This sweet treat is very appealing, what with the ever popular crunchy pecans and every kid's favorite, maple syrup. I use a good quality maple syrup for this candy. The better maple syrup has more of a "mapley" flavor, whereas the cheaper brands have more sugary, or "syrupy" flavor and texture. It's easy enough to make, so give both a try!
