Nutty Cream Filled Strawberries

Ingredients

* 25 very large strawberries
* 1 (3 oz) pkg. cream cheese, room temperature
* 2 TBSP pecans, chopped very fine
* 1 1/2 sugar
* 1 tsp orange extract (substitute: other flavor extracts or orange zest or lemon zest)

Directions

1. Remove the stems from 22 of the strawberries and slice just enough off the top of the strawberry, then flip and stand it up on the cut edge.
2. Cut 4 slits in each strawberry just far enough down the strawberries so that they still stay together, about 1/4 of the way down for each slit.
3. Finely chop the remaining berries.
4. Place the cream cheese into a mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer on low speed until fluffy.
5. Add the chopped berries and pecans and stir until blended in well.
6. Stir in the sugar and extract.
7. Fill each of the berries with 1 tsp of the cream cheese mixture.
