I know this recipe calls for a lot of sugar but the flavor may be worth the calories to you. You can substitute light brown sugar or honey if you want to perk the flavor up a bit more.
You may want to omit the sugar entirely. Just leave it out, taste your dressing after it's whisked together, then decide if you need any sweetening. At that point, you can sprinkle a small amount of sugar in, mix and taste again. Or, you could use a sugar substitute or honey.
