Split Pea Soup 'n Franks - Crock Pot

* 2 bags (16 oz each) dried green split peas, rinsed and drained
* 1 envelope dry onion and mushroom soup mix
* 1 envelope dry vegetable soup mix
* 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
* 1/4 cup ketchup
* 1 teaspoon garlic powder
* 4 quarts water
* 1 lb cocktail franks

1. Put everything in crock pot and mix well.
2. Cook, covered, on low for 8-10 hours.

Kids don't always like traditional split pea soup, but when you change the flavor up a bit with seasonings by using dry soup mixes, they seem to like it better. Then, just throw in some little cocktail franks and they'll think you made it specially for them.

Split peas are a wonderful source of dietary fiber and nutrients, and inexpensive, too! The more ways you can figure out how to get dry peas and beans into your family's diet, the better off everyone will be.
