Tuna Steaks with a Lime Kick |
Ingredients
|
* 4 tuna steaks (3/4 to 1-inch thick, about 6 ounces each)
* Zest of 1 lime
* Juice of 1 lime
* 2 tsp. dried thyme leaves
* 1/2 tsp. black pepper
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 2 tsp. extra-virgin olive oil + enough for cooking
|
Directions
|
1. Place the lime zest into a small mixing bowl with the thyme, pepper and salt. Whisk together.
2. Lightly rub olive oil on both sides of tuna.
3. Then carefully cover both sides of the tuna with the lime season mix.
4. Place a large skillet over medium heat.
5. Cover just the bottom of the skillet with olive oil and heat until hot but not smoking.
6. Place the prepared tuna steaks into the skillet. Do not over crowd. Do in separate batches and remove to warm plate if necessary.
7. Cook for 2 minutes on first side, then flip and continue cooking 1 minute.
8. Pour the lime juice over the top of steaks before serving.
