Whole Wheat Garlic Salad Croutons

Ingredients

*3 medium slices stale whole wheat bread, crusts cut off
*5 tbsp olive oil
*Garlic powder to taste

*preheat oven to 400 degrees

Directions

1. Cut the bread into cubes and place them in a bowl.
2. Pour the olive oil over the bread, sprinkle in the garlic and toss well to coat.
3. Spread the bread evenly over a baking sheet.
4. Toast in a preheated 400 degree oven for 18 to 20 minutes, turning occasionally.
5. Remove and let cool on rack. Once cool, place in sealed container or ziplock bags. Will stay fresh for up to 2 weeks in a cool dark cupboard.

Story

Once you make your own salad croutons you'll never buy those awful hard-as-a-rock boxed versions every again. These are nice and flavorful and will melt-in-your-mouth the way croutons are supposed to do.

Feel free to add a sprinkle of dried herbs of your liking before roasting the croutons.
