A delicious lunch in a brown bag reminds us the good old days filled with laughter and friends. The brown bag lunch is not as popular as fast food lunches, but it saves time and is a lot healthier. A brown bag lunch filled with delicious and healthy foods can be cost effective and fun.

Fill your lunch with a special food that makes you anticipate lunchtime and makes the kids at school or your co-workers green with envy.

Dijon Cold Cut Sandwiches
Serves: 4

*1/4 cup Dijon mustard
*2 Tablespoons honey
*1/2 Teaspoon dried oregano
*1/4 Teaspoon garlic powder
*1/8 Teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
*8 Slices of smoked turkey, chicken or ham
*4 Whole wheat buns
*4 Tomato slices
*4 Romaine lettuce leaves

1. Combine mustard, honey, oregano, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper
2. Mix well.
3. Brush honey mustard sauce on meat slices.
4. Serve on whole wheat buns with lettuce and tomato.

Thai Pita Pocket
Serves: 1

*1 chicken breast
*1 cup mozzarella cheese
*1 cup carrots; shredded
*1/2 cup green onion
*Thai peanut sauce

1. Roast chicken breast and cut into strips.
2. Mix chicken and other vegetables into a bowl.
3. Add desired amount of Thai peanut sauce.
4. Stuff pita and enjoy.

Chicken Rancheros Pita Pockets
Serves: 4

* 3 packages (10 oz each) fully cooked chicken breast
* 1 teaspoon chili powder
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1 1/2 cups taco sauce
* 1 Tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
* Shredded cheddar cheese
* Lettuce
* Salsa
* Sour cream
* Pita Pockets

1. Toss chicken with chili powder and salt
2. Coat nonstick skillet with cooking spray
3. Heat skillet over medium-high heat
4. Add chicken.
5. Cook, stirring occasionally until heated
6. Stir in taco sauce
7. Remove chicken mixture from heat.
8. Sprinkle with cilantro
9. Serve chicken mixture in pita pockets
10. Fill the pita with toppings.

This brown bag lunch can be prepared over the weekend and stored in the refrigerator for an office lunch. Simply, separate the chicken mixture from the other ingredients and place in a plastic container. Microwave chicken when ready to eat and add the tomato, lettuce, onions and cheese toppings.

No matter what you take in your lunch, by including healthy and fun items you'll give a whole new meaning and enjoyment to the brown bag lunch.
