1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, and 1/2 CUP of the soup, and season with salt and black pepper if you desire. Mix very well then shape into a loaf.
3. Put in loaf pan.
4. Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes.
5. Combine remaining soup, water and 3 tablespoons of the drippings from the meat loaf. 6. Heat this mixture in small saucepan over medium-low heat and serve as a gravy with potatoes or just spooned over the meat loaf.

This recipe is a simpler version of meat loaf than I usually make for a big meal. Because I eliminate any tomato sauce or paste from this recipe, it makes a really nice meat loaf to have the next day sliced for sandwiches. Make it for a lighter meal, or when everyone is not home to eat dinner, then save the majority of it for sandwiches the next day, either hot sandwiches or cold ones.
