* 1 small head red cabbage, cored and thinly sliced
* 3 medium apples, peeled, cored and grated
* 3/4 cup sugar
* 1/2 red wine vinegar
* 1 teaspoon ground cloves
* 1 cup cooked and crumbled bacon

If you've ever made sauerkraut, this is the same idea, only sweet. The cabbage cooks down quite a bit so if you want to feed a houseful of guests, you may need to double the recipe. The cloves add a nice touch, playing off the vinegar very nicely. The aroma this sends through the house is a nice bonus, too!
