Ingredients
|
* 1 (13.8 oz) pkg. refrigerated pizza dough
* 1/4 cup pizza sauce
* 4 slices Mozzarella cheese
* 8 slices Canadian bacon
* 1 (8 oz) can pineapple bits, drained well
* 1 Tbsp milk
* 2 Tbsp Parmesan cheese, grated
|
Directions
|
1. Turn on oven to 400 degrees.
2. Spray a large baking sheet well with a non stick cooking spray.
3. Unroll the pizza dough onto the prepared baking sheet and cut into 4 equal size squares.
4. Spread pizza sauce evenly over entire dough square keeping the sauce 1/4 inch away from the edges.
5. Divide evenly over half each pizza dough square in a triangle shape the ingredients in this order: Mozzarella cheese slices, Canadian bacon, and pineapple tidbits. (half the square will be left without these toppings)
6. Fold the side of each square that only has pizza sauce on it over the side with toppings, matching two corners, and pressing the edges to seal.
7. Carefully slide the triangles apart evenly on the baking sheet.
8. Brush the top of each turnover with the milk, then sprinkle evenly with Parmesan cheese.
9. Bake 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown.

Story
|
These hot turnover "sandwiches" are a great play on a classic Hawaiian style pizza. Canadian bacon is a yummy substitute for regular pieces of ham because it's nice and salty.
Of course, you can use this recipe as a jumping-off point for all sorts of turnovers. You can substitute pepperoni for the Canadian bacon, or even Italian sausage. Once you get the basics down, try a variety of pizza style ingredients.
