* 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
* 3 tablespoons flour
* 1/2 lb smoked pork sausage, cut into 1/2" slices
* 2 cups frozen cut okra
* 1 cup chopped onion
* 1 1/2 cups chopped green bell pepper
* 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
* 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
* 1/4 teaspoon pepper
* 1 can (14 1/2 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
* 1 package (12 oz) frozen cooked medium shrimp, peeled and deveined; rinsed and drained
* hot cooked rice

1. Heat oil in saucepan over medium-high heat.
2. Add flour.
3. Heat 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
4. Bring heat down to medium and heat 10 minutes more, still stirring constantly, until sauce turns rust colored.
5. Pour sauce into crock pot.
6. Add remaining ingredients (except shrimp and rice). Mix well.
7. Cover and cook on low 8-9 hours.
8. Add shrimp to crock pot.
9. Cover and cook on low 20 minutes.
10. Serve over hot cooked rice.
