Easy Nutty Cherry Chocolate Bars |
Ingredients

* 1 1/2 sticks of butter, cut into pieces
* 9 oz. semisweet chocolate, broken into pieces
* 2 Tbsp light corn syrup
* 1 lb. sweet meal biscuits (digestive biscuits), crushed
* 2 Tbsp cherries, pitted and chopped
* 1 Tbsp pecans, chopped

Directions

1. Prepare an 8 inch square pan by lightly buttering or spraying on the bottom and up the sides.
2. In a large saucepan, place the cut up butter, chocolate and syrup, put over low heat and stirring constantly cook 5 minutes until melted and smooth.
3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the biscuits, cherries and pecans. Press the mixture into the prepared 8 inch pan.
4. Refrigerate until completely cool then cut, and serve.
Makes 6 servings

These bars can be frozen also. Just let cool completely, cut into squares, then wrap each square individually in plastic wrap, then put in ziplock bags. Pull one or two out of the freezer, let thaw to room temperature, then enjoy.
They make a good breakfast bar or a nice afternoon snack.
If you can't find sweet meal biscuits (digestive biscuits) go ahead and use graham crackers or even vanilla wafers. Be sure that you don't crush them real fine; the recipe needs the chunkier size to give your bars their texture.
