Grilled Fruit Kabobs with Chocolate Nut Sauce |
Ingredients
|
* 1/2 C chopped milk chocolate
* 1/2 C + 2 tbsp cream
* 6 marshmallows, chopped
* 2 tbsp toasted hazelnuts, chopped
* 3 pears, peeled and cut into quarters
* 6 apricots, halved
* 12 strawberries
* 2 tbsp caster or super-fine sugar

Directions

1. Make the dipping sauce by placing the chocolate, cream and marshmallows into a pan over low heat and stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
2. Bring to a boil and whisk for 2 minutes or until thick then stir in the nuts and set aside.
3. Place the pears, apricots and strawberries in a bowl and toss with the sugar.
4. Stick and arrange the fruit on grill skewers.
5. Heat the grill to low and cook the fruit 5 minutes turning often.
6. Serve with the chocolate dip on the side.

This grilled fruit kabob will work with just about any fruit that can be grilled. Choose fruit that won't fall apart on the grill, but remember also to choose fruit that will grill at about the same rate.
If you mix apple chunks with pineapples, for instance, you may have trouble burning the pineapple before the apples are even soft. You can solve this by cutting the pieces of apple smaller than the pieces of pineapple.
Use a grilling basket specially made for grilling smaller food to help hold fruit pieces that may fall off the skewer.
