Old Fashioned Oatmeal Made Better

Ingredients

* 1 3/4 C of water
* 1 C of Old Fashioned Oats, or Quick Cooking Oats
* 1/8 tsp salt
* 1/4 C dried cherries
* 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
* 2 TBSP cherry jam
* 1/4 C 1 percent low-fat milk

Directions

1. Place water and salt in saucepan on medium heat and bring to a boil.
2. Add oats and cherries.
3. Bring back to a full boil then reduce heat and simmer until oats are cooked.
4. Remove from heat.
5. Stir in cherry jam.
6. Add vanilla and stir well.
7. Add milk if desired.
8. Serve immediately
