1. Place 2 C of the water in a large saucepan over medium heat.
2. Add sugar and stir constantly until sugar dissolves.
3. Remove from heat and add 2 C water, lemon juice and peel.
4. Allow mixture to cool.
5. Place 1 C of lemon mixture into blender.
6. Add all the blackberries.
7. Blended until blackberries are mixed in well.
8. Pour mixture into strainer to remove any seeds.
9. Pour into pitcher containing remaining lemon mixture.
10. Add food coloring.
11. Serve chilled.
