Sambal Oelek Tofu with Fresh Basil Garlic Sauce |
Ingredients

* 1/4 cup water
* 5 green onions, minced
* 6 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 pkg. firm tofu, well drained, sliced
* 1 tsp Sambal Oelek (type of hot chili sauce)
* 1 tsp soy sauce
* 1 C of fresh basil, torn into small pieces
* hot cooked rice

Directions

1. Place water into a large skillet, stir in the onion and garlic and cook over medium heat until tender.
2. Stir in the tofu and cook for 8 to 10 minutes.
3. Stir in the Sambal Oelek, soy sauce, and basil and cook over medium-low heat until heated through.
4. Serve alone or over cooked rice.

This dish is unusual and spicy, so save it for the adults. If you can't get Sambal Oelek, use any good hot chili sauce.
You can marinade the tofu in soy sauce before you cook it, but I think there is enough flavor for the tofu to absorb in the dish as is.
