Strawberry Ice Cream |
Ingredients
|
* 2 1/2 cups sugar
* 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 5 cups milk (I use Skim milk)
* 4 eggs, beaten
* 4 cups whipping cream
* 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
* Frozen strawberries
* Fanta Strawberry 2 liter bottle
|
Directions
|
1. Combine sugar, flour and salt in saucepan.
Gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat approximately 15 minutes or until thickened stirring constantly.
2. Gradually stir about 1 cup of hot mixture into the beaten eggs with a whisk.
3. Add egg mixture to remaining hot mixture, stirring constantly. Cook 1 minute; remove from heat.
4. Refrigerate 2 hours. (I just put it in the freezer for about 30 minutes.)
5. Combine whipping cream and vanilla in large bowl; add chilled mixture, stirring with wire whisk to combine.
6. Add strawberries. You may want to chop them a little finer to avoid big chunks of strawberries.
7. Pour into freezer, then fill to the fill line with Fanta strawberry coke. This makes from 4 to 6 quarts. Just add more Fanta for a 6 quart.

Story
|
Our family loves homemade ice cream. We always make it for the 4th of July and any other occasion we can. I made this one for a Crawfish Boil in May. Everyone loved it. I also have chocolate syrup available. We also made it for the 4th. It has a great smooth taste. If you make too much it freezes well also.
