There are some crock pots that have clamps to seal the lid, keeping it from spilling during travel. Some also have a cover designed specifically for transporting. These are good for those who attend pot lucks, family dinners and more.

There are small porcelain crock pots. These would be perfect for a single person or a couple who don't need to cook a big meal in them. You can also find some really cute designs so that you can keep the crock pot on your counter even when not in use.

There are types with different temperature controls as well. Some include digital displays with many heat settings, while others have knobs with only an Off, Low and High setting. The material your crock pot is made from can also vary. You can find stainless steel, porcelain and even glass. This makes it easy to coordinate your crock pot with your other dishes and kitchen decor.

Some crock pots are detachable making washing a breeze. Some can be placed in a dishwasher or totally immersed in water due to the fact the tub comes apart from the heating element.

If you're looking for a specific type of lid for your crock pot you'll find most come with a glass lid, but you can find plastic ones as well. You may even find side clamps that help to seal the lid even more. Usually these types of slow cookers will have a hole for releasing steam during the cooking process, similar to a pressure cooker.
