Our eyes are one of the most important parts of our bodies. Without them we would live in total darkness never knowing what the world at large is like. Taking care of our eyesight can be as easy as eating our vegetables. Yes, eating vegetables. That’s why our parents always insisted we eat them when we were children. They had the insight to know and as adults we have that same insight, even if we don’t use it to our best advantage all the time.



Eat Your Veggies For Better Eyesight

Vitamin A is essential to healthy eyesight. It is a known fact that Vitamin A promotes healthy eyes. Vitamin A is easy to find in fruits and vegetables that are orange, yellow and green in color. These types of foods contain carotenoids which, when ingested, turn to Vitamin A. This makes these types of foods a great dietary addition to promote healthy eyesight.

Vitamin A, also known as retinal, can also aid in preventing eye disease. Diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration can be devastating to our sight. The onset of these types of diseases can occur at any age, but as we grow older these diseases can render many of us almost blind. Not being able to watch TV, read or even drive can be the results.

Trying to instill eating vegetables to your family may be a challenge. Incorporate those vegetables into snacks that your family can enjoy. Carrot and celery sticks can be great fun for children to eat if you do it right. Give them fun healthy dips or dress them up so your children will be enticed to eat them.

Be sure to add things such as spinach and sweet potatoes to your dinner menu. Children will be more apt to eat these types of vegetables if you encourage them from day one. Don’t make a big fuss over them just add them to their diet at an early age. They will become accustomed to eating them and never get the idea in their heads that they aren’t supposed to like them.

Eating your fruits and vegetables is very important for many different health reasons. It’s a fact that eating these types of foods and ingesting that Vitamin A can keep our eyes healthy. Listen to what your parents had to say when it came to eating your veggies. Pass this on to your own family. Our eyes open up a whole world of fun and education. By eating those fruits and vegetables you can insure that your whole family will have the best window to the world around them.
