Enticing Kids Apples

Apples are a fruit that have a very universal appeal. Who doesn't like an apple that is picked fresh from the tree? The crisp natural goodness of apples actually has many health benefits. Unfortunately, most kids have no worries about any of that. The big question is how do you get kids to eat apples?

Enticing Kids to Eat Apples

You can tell them that apples are good for their bodies. They may listen but then again they may not. The best thing about apples is that they taste good. The natural sweetness of an apple can almost be better tasting than candy. What kid doesn't have a sweet tooth? Why not use apples to satisfy that sweet tooth the next time they have a craving?

You can try sneaking apples into a few of their favorite dishes. When food dishes have more than one taste in them certain tastes that are less appealing are masked. You're kids may not dislike apples, but this is a great way to get them to try them before they have the chance to say no.

Do your kids like salad? Try dicing a few skinned apples and sprinkle them on the salad like croutons. The sweet taste of an apple contrasts with tomatoes and cucumbers to provide a little something extra.

Most kids are all about finger foods. With finger foods they can pick it up and carry it around which not only makes eating fun but convenient as well. Apple sticks can be created by peeling and coring the apple first, then slice the apples to resemble French fries. These apples can be combined with cheese sticks and their favorite sandwich for lunchtime.

Apples can also be appealing as a drink. For those kids who don't eat a lot of fruit give them their fruits in liquid form. Apple juice actually contains many of the nutrients as an actual apple.

Apples are great to incorporate into muffin mixes, cakes and pies. Even apple flavored yogurt contains pieces of apple. If your child doesn't like the taste of a particular variety of apple, you can substitute other apple varieties. Gala apples are probably the best to introduce to children first because they are crisp and sweet.

Try a few different varieties and they can choose their favorite. Apples require no added sugar to liven them up the natural sugars will do the job just fine.
