Star Spangled Gluten Free Desserts
Gluten which is found in wheat, barley, rye and many processes foods can be dangerous to some people’s health. It’s hard to realize just how many foods contain gluten. For people who aren’t gluten intolerant it may seem strange to try and find alternatives. For those who are gluten intolerant it can be a difficult challenge to find foods that is gluten free.
There are many alternatives for gluten free eating. Certain flours, brown rice and quinoa are just a few. Flour is a main base for many our beloved foods. Gravy, fried foods and of course those much loved baked goods all contain flour. The alternatives help us to enjoy the foods we always loved without the worry.
Fourth of July is a time to celebrate our country. More often than not these celebrations include baked goods. Those scrumptious stars and stripe cake or those yummy cupcakes with the sparklers dancing in the wind are all a part of our celebration. Those who are gluten intolerant may not be able to enjoy these treats if the wrong ingredients are used.
A few ideas for a gluten free Fourth of July dessert include red, white and blue cupcakes made with gluten free flour, xanthium gum and topped with strawberry ice cream topping. Add the sparklers and they are sure to be a hit.
Another great idea is chocolate peanut butter cookies. These cookies made with gluten free chocolate chips taste just as good as any other chocolate cookie. Add a few red, white and blue sprinkles or gluten free white chocolate chips and you have the makings for a tasty Fourth of July celebration.
Gluten free eating doesn’t mean going without the finer foods in life. Enjoy these or find a few of your own. Everyone who is gluten intolerant will appreciate your efforts and even those who don’t have to eat gluten free will enjoy them as well.
