Rustic Cinnamon Apple Bake |
Ingredients
|
* 1 prepared 9 inch pie crust, room temperature
* 4 Granny Smith apples, cored, peeled and chopped into rough 1 inch chunks
* 3 Tbsp of sugar
* 1 Tbsp cinnamon
* 1 Tbsp butter, cut into pieces
|
Directions
|
1. Set the oven to 425 degrees and preheat.
2. Lightly flour a flat surface and roll the pie crust out slightly. Place the crust into an 8 inch pie pan and roughly crimp the edges to form crust. Prick the dough on the bottom a few times with a fork.
3. Place a piece of parchment paper over the dough and weigh it down with dry beans or pie weights.
4. Bake 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
5. Remove the crust, but leave the oven on. Remove the weights and parchment paper and let the crust cool.
6. When the crust has cooled arrange the apple chunks evenly in the crust.
7. In a bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle the mixture evenly over the apples. Arrange the pieces of butter on top of the coated apples.
8. Bake 12 minutes or until the apples just begin to caramelize.

To make this even more "rustic" use a square baking pan and tear or cut crust into a shape that fits the pan. This is a very simple recipe and should look simple, not fancy.
