Farm Kitchen Pancakes


*1 C four
*1 tsp baking soda
*1 tsp of cream of tartar
*2 Tbsp butter, diced
*1 egg, lightly beaten
*2/3 C of milk


1. Mix the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar and cut in the butter until crumbly.
2. Add the egg and just enough milk to reach a thick consistency. DO NOT OVERMIX. Mix should be somewhat lumpy.
3. Drop by ladles full onto a preheated skillet that's been lightly oiled, over medium-high heat, and cook 2 minutes, turning, then 2 to 3 more minutes or until nicely golden brown on both sides.


Pancakes are one of the simplest, most satisfying breakfast foods you can make. There's not a dish that says "home" better than a stack of hot pancakes on the table in the morning. This recipe is simple and makes perfect old fashioned pancakes every time.

Be sure not to get too aggressive with your mixing or the pancakes won't rise as they cook and will be tough.
